Sedition Press

You don’t need to breathe deep to smell that this place is rotten. The finer folks will carry perfumed kerchiefs to cover the smell of the streets, but that won’t save them. The Mad God King and his Authority are chiseling away every way of living and the people are starting to rise up.  aren’t going to take it anymore. You aren’t going to take it.              

Grab your flintlock and pull your cloak close for you are about the business of sedition. By your wits, sweat, and grit you must survive and inspire revolution. You are the Sedition Press.

The players in Sedition Press are a conspiracy of like-minded ordinary people who have had enough. They have taken on a role both vital and dangerous. They must secretly print and distribute broadsides and pamphlets excoriating the Authority, decrying the God King, and rallying the people to revolution. All the while the Authority will seek to root out agitators like your group, to make public spectacle of their executions.

This hack is adapted from PICARO! by Stillfleet Press and an anonymous game designer. This zine was produced for the Grit Jam 2026. While you can play this as a stand alone, it’s recommended you read PICARO! or another Grit system game, which will go into greater detail on some rules.

Development notes:
This game is built off of a solid tested chassis of the Grit System, it will run if you play it. My iteration of that ruleset is in the playtest phase to make sure the things I've bolted on run smoothly. Feedback welcome.
Also, the game very quickly played out, and uses artwork that samples heavily from public domain prints, and I'd like to add more original artwork from by and others. That's why it's currently listed PWYW, my only request would please share your feedback if you play it.
